Basketball is considered the most popular sport in The Island of The Bahamas, and The Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium is the primary venue for games in New Providence. On Grand Bahama Island, there are two modern basketball facilities – the St. George’s High School Gymnasium and the Sir Jack Hayward High School Gymnasium, which is NCAA certified for Women’s Tournaments. Several teams from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the U.S.A. have held championships in Nassau and Grand Bahama Island over the years. And, now that the NCCA has granted The Bahamas "exempt status," their teams can play here without penalty, paving the way for additional off-season tournaments.
