Swimming
Swimming is year-round sport in The Islands of The Bahamas, because the weather conditions are so ideal. The average year-round temperature is about 70 degrees which means the water never freezes, so you can hold your swimming tournament here, in addition to practicing for the upcoming season in the middle of January. The Betty Kelly-Kenning National Swim Complex, adjacent to the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, opened in 2001 and has received Olympic, international and CARIFTA certification. It has hosted the CARIFTA Games and the Bahamas National Swimming Championships, and also serves as the winter training site for many international universities and club teams. |
